Chuck's Chat-Welcome to November 2025
Well, the voters have spoken; I’m back as the Montgomery County Farm Bureau President for another year. If you’d like to help with any of our activities, please let us know. We’ll be making next year’s committee assignments at our November 11 meeting. In addition, this marks the beginning of the eighth year of composing this monthly rant. Hopefully I can continue to provide some information and a little humor along the way. Thanks for playing along!
Many thanks to all who attended our recent annual meeting. Our fundraiser for Live Healthy Montgomery County raised $3500! On behalf of the board, thank you to all those who graciously contributed.
Temperatures dipped to 29 degrees here along the Northern Sycamore Urban Boundary overnight, which means leaf blower season is officially open. Never mind, here comes the north wind again. Oh wait, it’ll be out of the south tomorrow. I think I’ll just chop them up with the lawn mower.
The Wildcat Extension Education Foundation, which is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to supporting local extension programming efforts, is participating in Match Day with three different foundations and needs your help. Match Day is a fundraising campaign to help local nonprofit organizations increase their endowed funds and build sustainability. On the designated day, community members have the opportunity to build the endowment of local organization funds through contributions. Your donation will be matched and transferred to the Wildcat Extension Foundation's general fund. The Wildcat Extension Education Foundation mission is to enhance the Wildcat Extension District's efforts to build strong communities through enduring financial support for research-based education and collaboration. Thank you for your donation(s) that support the future of educational programs provided to improve the livelihoods of Kansans. Go to https://www.wildcatdistrict.k-state.edu/foundation/ for more information and thank you for your generosity.
Don’t forget to vote. Remember not only the fallen, but the survivors and living heroes as well on Veterans’ Day. And be sure to give thanks to the farmers for your Thanksgiving bounty. Every day should be Thanksgiving…
God Bless America
Until next month,
Chuck Voelker
